Airtel postpaid plans up ₹50 from 8 October 2026: ₹449 plan now ₹499

Bharti Airtel has decided to increase the price of all its postpaid plans by ₹50. The new plans come into effect on 8 October 2026.

Sources close to Airtel told PTI on Wednesday that existing postpaid customers will also face the new tariff. They will be migrated within one month to the costlier plan closest to their current plan.

How much more will customers pay

The percentage increase may range from about 3 per cent to 11 per cent, according to Amar Ujala (Technology). A ₹449 postpaid plan will now cost ₹499, an increase of about 11 per cent. A ₹1,749 plan will cost ₹1,799, an increase of about 2.8 per cent.

What new benefits are included

The new postpaid plans include free roaming on one international trip every year. A supplementary international roaming pack with 5GB data, 60 minutes of calling, 25 outgoing SMS and free incoming SMS is included. These benefits are valid for five days.

Users can activate the roaming pack whenever they choose, not at the time of their first trip. On Airtel family postpaid plans, the free roaming benefit is available for every SIM included in the plan.

Plans listed by Airtel include unlimited data and calling with network-level spam and fraud prevention. They also include access to entertainment services and the Airtel postpaid advantage club, which covers experiences such as comedy shows, film premieres and concerts.

Airtel said the new plans are designed to add international connectivity to its existing postpaid offering, which includes Fast Lane technology on 5G, spam and fraud protection, entertainment subscriptions and other services.

How to switch or upgrade

Existing Airtel customers can upgrade through the Airtel app or an Airtel store. Customers of other telecom operators can switch to Airtel postpaid by requesting through the app or visiting an Airtel store.

What remains unclear

The exact services and limits included in free roaming will depend on the conditions of the relevant plan. Which specific new plan an existing customer will be moved to is not yet known. It is also not yet known whether the new plans will replace old plans or remain available alongside them.
